Oostwold Airshow 2002


The third edition of the Oostwold Airshow was held on Easter Monday (21th April). Place to be was the Oostwold-Oldambt airstrip which is located nearby Scheemda in the north-east of Holland. The show was organized by the Dutch Historical Aircraft Company (DHAC) in co-operation with Stichting Vliegveld Oost Groningen (Foundation Airfield East Groningen). The airshow is mainly civil, but they succeeded in getting interesting aircraft to the airstrip.


The only military visitor of the Oostwold Air Show was this AB-412SP from the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force).                The R-01 belongs to 303 SAR Flight which is based at Leeuwarden AB and is in use for Search and Rescue (SAR) tasks.

 

The organisation of the Oostwold Air Show was suprised with the arrival of this TS-8 Bies. An unexpected visitor became the highlight of the show. According to the pilot, this example is believed to be the only flying TS-8 Bies of the world. It is painted in full Polish Air Force markings, wearing military serial "1009"and is registrated in the Polish register as SP-YBD.

 

 

Well known is the airshow circuit is this A-26B Invader from the Scandinavian Historical Flight. It wears markings "434602/S" and is registrated as N167B.

 

Another Warbird that is well known in the airshow circuit is this Supmarine Spitfire MkLF VB, "EP120/AE-A", named City of Winnipeg. This Spitfire belongs to The Fighter Collection and is civil registrated as G-LFVB. After an overhaul this aircraft flew again in September 1995. She is used for several films e.g. the Battle of Britain and Pearl Harbour.

 

This Swiss build Pilatus P-2, D-ETHN, came to Oostwold and was placed on static. The production of the P-2 started in 1945 and only 54 examples were build.

This AT-16ND Harvard is registrated in the Dutch register as PH-KLU. This aircraft flew with the Royal Netherlands Air Force as B-59. Currently it is painted as the "XS-249" of the Canadian Armed Forces.

 

Also ex military. but this Fiat G.46 was used by the Aeronautica Militare Italiana (AMI, Italian Air Force) as MM53293. Now it is civil owned and registrated as OO-VOR.

This legendary aircraft, the P-51 Mustang, belongs to the Dutch Historical Aircaft Company (DHAC). This Mustang, with registration N11T, is provided with "474425/OC-G" codes and is named "Damn Yankee".
