Royal Netherlands Army open days 2005


The Royal Netherlands Army open days were held at Deelen during the last week-end of May. The 11th Airmanoeuvre Brigade (an operational partnership between the 11th Airmobile Brigade and the THGKLu - Tactical Helicopter Group) hosted this event. During these days, they show the public what they are all about of with information and demonstrations. The public was able to have a closer look at the military materiel that is used within the Army. Several helicopters could been seen on a static display, including some German helicopters.


CH-47D Chinook, serial D-664, is seen here shortly after the delivery of a vehicle for the 11 Air Mobile Brigade. During this demonstration they delivered a Mercedes-Benz 290GD (LM AD version). All the CH-47D Chinooks are assigned to 298 Squadron which is based at Soesterberg.

Another helicopter that is based at Soesterberg is this AS.532U2 Cougar from 300 Squadron. The S-441 is seen here in take off after the delivery of the two soldiers. Note the SFOR-titles behind the cockpit and on the tail.

Another AS.532U2 Cougar departing for a demonstration. Note that this Cougar, the S-447, is provided with an emergency floatation gear.

Two AH-64D Apaches from 301 Squadron based at Gilze-Rijen participated in the demonstrations. One of them, the Q-10, is seen here at Deelen.

A C-130H-30 Hercules from 314 Squadron, the G-273 "Ben Swagerman", dropped several paratroopers at a low altitude.

This SE.3160 Alouette III, with serial A-247, is seen here parked on the static. The A-247 recently reveived a new (royal) blue livery. The remaining Alouette III's are assigned to 300 Squadron that also operates the Cougar.
