Photo call Wittmund 2004


Once again, Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" opened the gates for aviation enthousiasts on the 4th of August 2004. Several units of the German Air Force, Navy and Army were invited to come. Many of them were present at Wittmund and parked on a static display. Fortunately, the sun was shining all day, which made this photo call absolutely worthly to visit. Compliments must be made to the organisation which made this photocall a succes.


Host unit Jagdgeschwader 71 displayed two of their Phantoms. One of them was this F-4F ICE Phantoms, serial 38+67.

A couple of Tornados could be photographed at Wittmund. Both were wearing special color schemes. This example, the 43+70, is assigned to Jagdbombergeschwader 38, which is based at Büchel.

The other Tornado came from Jever and belongs to Jagdbombergeschwader 38. The Tornado, wearing serial 44+08, recieved this color scheme last year when they were celebrating 20 years of Tornado in actice service.

Several units of the Marineflieger were present at Wittmund. One of them was this Breguet Atlantic, serial 61+14. All the Atlantics of the German Navy are assigned to MFG 3, which is based at Nordholz. Recently, eight Royal Netherlands Navy P-3C Orions were bought to replace this good old aircraft.

Marinefliegergeschwader 3 also came with a Super Lynx. The 83+23 is one of the modified helicopters. It is also wearing the celebration batch of the Marineflieger.

A-4N Skyhawk, N432FS, belongs to BA Systems and is used for target towing missions. Four of this ex Israeli Air Force Skyhawks are based at Wittmund. This example is parked in front of the hangar were they are normally parked.

Still going strong! This UH-1D Huey, serial 71+69 was parked on the static line.

The EC.135 is the newest type of helicopter within the Herman Army. All the EC.135's including this example (serial 82+64), are assigned to the Heeresflieger Waffenschule at Bückeburg.

Another helicopter that is operated by the German Army. This CH-53G, serial 84+18, also belongs to the Heeresflieger Waffenschule at Bückeburg.
