50 Years Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" - Wittmund Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2009. Part of the festivities was a spottersday which was held on the 5th of June. More then 850 people (from Belgium, the Czech republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom) registrated themselves for this event. Nordholz 'Airday 2006' - Tag der Marineflieger The German Navy organized an open day called Airday 2006 - Tag der Marineflieger on Sunday the 27th of August which was hosted by Marinefliegergeschwader 3 based at Nordholz. Many of the based aircraft could be seen during the day. It was the last time for the public to see the Atlantic, it will be retired on a short term. Eggebek Open House 2003 Marinefliegergeschwader 2 held an open house on the 24th of August 2003. MFG 2 was celebrating the 45th anniversary of the unit and 90 years of naval aviation in Germany.
